In a constantly changing landscape, life is full of moments that shouldn't be forgotten. This is my way of piecing together a puzzle of memories.
On January 1st 2011 I pressed the shutter for the first time on my 1000 photos project. I planned on taking a similar image each day for 1000 days, with a short video at the end to trace my changing faces.
Quickly, though, the project became about what was happening over my shoulders. The place, scene or people behind me offering something firm to remember that day by. As each 24 hour span drifted by one photograph marked that day's happenings; forming a gateway into my memories for any given moment.
On September 27th 2013 I reached Day 1000. Now, the resultant video offers a sequence of growing hair and beard, developing relationships, adventures on land, ocean and river, and most importantly, a daily account of just how much we can achieve in just under three years.
And in case you were wondering, the project will now continue until the day I die. I'd feel empty without it.
