On April 30 2013, British adventurers Dave Cornthwaite and Squash Falconer set off on a 2500-mile trek through Western Europe on their ElliptiGO elliptical bicycles. Both lovers of the outdoors with a passion for sports, they hope to highlight the benefit of physical activity on quality of life to the people they meet along the way.
Their journey will take them two months and through six countries where they will engage with local bike clubs, running groups, regional fitness initiatives, competitive events, and elite athletes with the goal of inspiring people to say “yes” more in their lives and get active. They want to demonstrate how creating a personal challenge for oneself and making it happen can change old habits and instil a new confidence and love of fitness.
For Dave, this journey on the ElliptiGO will be his 8th adventure in his Expedition1000 project, an ambitious series of twenty five journeys of at least 1000 miles in length, each one using a different method of non-motorised transport. Along the way, Dave hopes to raise £1,000,000 for charity and use creative adventure to inspire people to think big, stay healthy, and care for our planet.

Squash Falconer is a record-breaking adventurer and mountaineer. At 23 she climbed Aconcagua in Argentina and in 2011 she summited Mt. Everest.
A dab hand at sports across the board, Squash was the first British woman to paraglide from the summit of Mt Blanc and descended Cho Oyu on a bum board!
I had eye surgery in Nov which precluded any pounding so the bike allowed me to keep my aerobics and sanity!
My husband is a great runner but has major back problems which get worse with pounding. The Elliptigo is a Godsend for him.
I've had both knees replaced in the last 4 years. I still run 70-90 miles/week but I know I'm pushing the envelope a bit with artificial knees! There are over 600,000 TKR's done every year and that's just in the United States! The GO could be the perfect solution for them to get there aerobic fitness in without the pounding!
