Trestles to TJ Standing up for Clean Water Along the San Diego Coast
Surfers, Scientists, Paddlers and Adventurers to SUP 70 miles from San Mateo Creek, CA to the Tijuana River to enhance education about beach health and ways to explore America's waterways.

San Diego, CA, July 2012: At 8am on Saturday 21st July two Californian non-profit organizations, Below the Surface and Paddle with Purpose, joined forces with a team of accomplished international paddlers, scientists and adventurers to embark on the first annual Trestles to TJ Paddle, starting from the mouth of the San Mateo Creek.
The 15 paddlers, mostly on Stand Up Paddleboards, are taking on the 70-mile stretch of coastline from San Mateo Creek to the Tijuana River, to draw attention to the impact of riverine water pollution on the coastline as well as officially launching the Riverview Mobile App which is part of Below the Surface’s Riverview Project, or “Google’s Streetview for Rivers.”
