In October 2011 Dave was invited to be the guest on the BBC's Live N Deadly show, hosted by Steve Backshall and Naomi Wilkinson. After racing head to head in Coracles (watch video below to see who won) Dave asked Steve if he'd like to do a Blue Mile of some kind.

This is what the guys came up with. On July 14th 2012 they swam a mile underwater, down the River Thames near Marlow, UK.

They were supported on the surface by Dave's Missouri River Swim1000 team and the crew from the Blue Project.
