WHEN YOU INVITE OTHERS TO CHOOSE YOUR TRANSPORT

Benjamin Sadd's short film meets Dave Cornthwaite as he approached the end of the tenth leg of his Expedition1000 project, 25 non-motorised journeys of 1000 miles or more. Beginning in southern Germany, Cornthwaite's steed is chosen by friends and strangers via social media, who decide he should return to the UK on a recumbent Sprint 26x Trike, designed by Inspired Cycle Engineering (ICE). And although the ICE HQ in Falmouth, Cornwall is his ultimate destination, the route also being determined by social media interaction. Through France, Germany, Holland and England, this is a venture without preconception, just a willingness to say 'yes, let's go.' In late April 2014, just 7 days after completing an expedition across Chile, Dave left  the German town of Germersheim following a non-motorised transport show called the Spezialradmesse, or Spezi for short.

Rather than flying to the UK after the show, Dave asked his social media family to vote for a form of transport on which he could make the return journey on, and they overlooked the Varibike and Troytec Revolution Low Rider to choose the ICE Trike Sprint.

23 days and 1106 miles later, Dave reached Falmouth, Cornwall, having travelled though four countries, with the route itself being determined by social media interaction, chance and a little bit of luck.

Why? Because adventure is just decision, and breaking down the simplicity of setting off on a big, life-changing journey means just one thing: having a good old positive attitude.

For the 10th journey of Dave Cornthwaite's Expedition1000 project, you can decide the transport. During the last weekend of April 2014, Dave is speaking at the Spezi non-motorised transport show in southern Germany. After the show he has decided to ride home to the UK, over 1000 miles under his own steam.
Dave had decided that he would leave the Spezi alternative cycling show on a form of non-motorised transport, to ride over 1000 miles back to the UK from Germany. A public vote determined that he would be using an ICE Trike Sprint for the journey.

TRANSPORT: ICE Sprint 26X Trike

The trike is built for speed, agility and comfort. Equally suited to fast riding, touring and commuting. This hard-tail model has a 26” rear wheel, Avid BB7 disc brakes, SRAM X9 30 speed drivetrain, and an ICE Ergo-Flow mesh seat.
